Howlite gemstones flaunt a chic marble-like appearance with grey veins running through their silken white exterior. Although factually unfounded, many have believed howlite had the ability to calm waves of anger by internalising the negative energy of others. Polished into smooth cabochon stones to be used in Gemondo jewellery, these genuine howlite gems have been set into our contemporary rings, earrings, bracelets and necklaces featured in sterling silver and yellow gold plate.

Howlite was named after Henry How, the man who supposedly discovered this beautiful semi-precious gemstone in America.

Naturally white and grey howlite gemstones are great textural imposters and as such have been used to imitate blue and white turquoise, lapis lazuli and other gemstones through processes of dying.

Howlite sits on the lower side of the Mohs scale for hardness and as such should be treated with love and care. Be sure not to expose your howlite jewellery to chemicals or acidic materials to preserve its beauty.
