Gemstone Information
Famed for its unique sky blue colour, turquoise is one of the few instances where the name of the colour is derived from a gemstone’s name.
Mined for more than 6,000 years, there are plenty of myths and beliefs surrounding this blue green gemstone. It was believed by the Ancient Egyptians that wearing turquoise around the neck or wrist could prevent death.
Turquoise is the alternative birthstone for December and is traditionally given on an 11th wedding anniversary.
