These earrings have a post and butterfly clip and are suitable for pierced ears only.

Famed for its beautiful purple colour, it was believed by the Ancient Greeks that amethyst was created when the tears of the god Dionysus fell upon Amethystos, a young maiden who had been turned to quartz by goddess Diana in order to protect her from Dionysus.
It is said that amethyst can promote tranquillity and purify the mind.
Amethyst is the birthstone for February and it is tradition to give amethyst for a 6th wedding anniversary gift.
